From its humble beginnings as an 1860s settlement, Johnstown has grown to a community of over 14,000 residents. Today Johnstown maintains the tranquility and beauty of its small town history while becoming a hub for Colorado residents who work in larger surrounding cities but wish to live in a “small town” community.
With miles and miles of picturesque rolling farmland, quaint main streets and "small-town" ways, Johnstown provides easy access to I-25 which makes commuting to a nearby city easy.

Being located near both Fort Collins and Greeley offers residents of Johnstown the advantage of choice in health care. Johnstown and neighboring Milliken are surrounded by abundant farmland, which provides the area's largest source of income. Some of the larger employers in the Johnstown/Milliken area include Hall-Irwin, a full-service construction management firm, and Uniscope, a company that specializes in the production of specialty agricultural products. Given the low housing prices and friendly setting, many settle here but commute to the larger surrounding communities such as Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins or Denver for work.
