It has a fun history as being the home to Rattlesnake Kate, who killed over two hundred rattlesnakes and made a dress from their skins. Make sure to pay her a visit in the Mizpah Cemetery and view the dress at the Greeley Museum. Platteville is also home to Fort Vasquez, an 1830’s fur trading post and the Platteville Pioneer Museum at Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park also contains the town library, a playground and hosts the annual Harvest Days in August.

About Platteville

Platteville is located in northeastern Colorado between Greeley and Fort Lupton and adjacent to the Platte River. It is forty two miles north of Denver on US 85. Platteville can maintain the cozy small town charm because the population, as of 2006, was 2,611. The town is located within Weld County and the Greeley metropolitan area. It is in the Mountain Standard time zone and sits at an elevation of 4,813 feet.
