Firestone, a statutory town formed in 1908, and named for landowner Jacob Firestone, is located east of Longmont and midway between Denver and Fort Collins on I-25. This planned Colorado community is governed by a Board of (six) Trustees and a Mayor. The Trustees serve as fiscal managers for the community and appoint various Boards and Commissions to advise them in several areas of community business.
It is easy to maintain an active lifestyle in Firestone with all the parks (over 35), recreational facilities and the 12-mile long Firestone Trail for use by pedestrians. The community also hosts numerous activities such as, concerts, movies in the park, the annual 4th of July celebration and the Firestone Honey Festival. Residents and visitors can visit the nearby Rocky Mountain National Park for rock climbing, hiking, white water rafting, bird watching, horseback riding and more. There are several major ski resorts in the area as well. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy golf in the Greeley area at Greeley Country Club, Boomerang Links, Eaton Country Club, Highland Hills Golf Course and others.
Denver is only a short 20-minute drive from Firestone. There is plenty of shopping and dining to enjoy, as well as, the Denver Zoo, the Denver Center of the Performing Arts, and the Denver Museum of Natural History.
The St. Vrain Valley School District serves residents of Firestone. The Elementary schools in the area are Centennial Elementary, Frederick Elementary, Legacy Elementary, and Prairie Ridge Elementary. Students in the upper grades will then attend Coal Ridge Middle School and Frederick Senior High School or may select to attend Carbon Valley Academy or Imagine Charter School at Firestone. Students wishing to further their education close to home can choose from the University of Northern Colorado or Aims Community College.
Some of the major employers/businesses in Firestone include American Furniture Warehouse, Advanced Forming Technologies, King Soopers, and Safeway Corporation. Because of Firestone’s close access to I-25, E-470, and US-36, it is in a great location for businesses and economic growth.
Firestone is close to many great healthcare facilities, including Boulder Community Hospital, and Longmont United Hospital. The Carbon Valley Medical Center also serves Firestone and there are numerous family practices and private doctors in or near the area.
Firestone is a growing planned community, which would be an ideal place to settle and raise a family. Consider this the last place you will ever want to live. Contact Jason Humpal with Century21 in Northern Colorado to learn more.
